About Us

In June of 1910, Harry Pugh came to what is now the M.D. of Wainwright No.61. Coming from the United Kingdom, he sought the open prairie of Alberta to start a life for himself in agriculture. Through the toils and determination of that first generation we have evolved to the now operation, currently in its 4th generation. We are thankful fovr the dedication of the generations before us and are proud of our history. The original homestead was a sod shack structure with one room for Harry and one for his horse. He believed in hard work, progressive thinking and involvement with like-minded people to create a future for the generations to come. These values continue today with our operation.

Pugh Farms is a livestock and grain operation where we raise registered Polled Herefords, Red and Black Angus. We also run a herd of commercial cows derived from our own breeding, from which we market F1 Hereford X Angus females. We believe in the value of the cow because much of our land is only suitable for livestock, with much of the pasture being native river land.
